A bit about the how

I'm Ali — a software engineer and designer based in Cairo, working from the place where the two overlap. Since 2022, that's meant 50+ projects and a habit of noticing the small stuff: the transition that's a frame too slow, the image that's twice the size it needs to be. Selected work, below, along the way.

01 — The spark

An internship at ivend by mobica

Seven months as a Software Engineering & Data Analysis intern, Feb–Aug 2026 — vending-machine tech, IoT dashboards, and my first real exposure to shipping for actual clients.

• Redesigned ivend.cloud, driving a +11.8% increase in impressions over March–June 2026
• Redesigned the client machine-monitoring dashboard with a very cool analytics page Power BI-inspired analytics for real-time fleet visibility
• Redesigned the vending machine app design in Flutter, delivering a full UI overhaul
• Built and deployed a new iOS & Android mobile application in Flutter, focused on front-end architecture and UX
• Built weekly & daily Power BI and PDF reports from machine sales data to optimize supply-chain purchasing and reduce operational incidents
• Designed client machines, branding images, company profile images, and event posters for Instagram, machines, and presentations for high-profile clients, plus a new operator uniform
• Selected to build and present the company's summer strategy presentation & data directly to CEO Mohamed Farouk, covering Power BI analytics and forward planning
• Lead data analysis for the company, making recommendations to improve operational efficiency and reduce incidents especially during Sahel season

02 — The studio

I run KairoDev

A design-engineering studio out of Cairo — websites, Shopify themes, mobile apps, presentations, shipped across the MENA region and beyond. This site is one of ours, built the same way as everything else: fast, motion-rich, and a little obsessive about the details.
